We are having a problem running out of space on our Machform server because of forms that have large attachments (photographs and scanned images) and many submissions. The nature of the material submitted is such that we have to keep it for an extended period of time (seven years, I believe). It is also very important that we make submitting entries to these form as easy as possible, so it is not feasible to put a low size limit on the upload fields and instruct the submitters reduce the file size themselves.
Has anyone else on this forum run into this type of problem? If so, have you come up with any kind of solution to it and can you please share them? In particular, do you have any strategies you can share with us about methods to export the form entries and attachments in such a way so that they can be imported into another DB (on a different server that the one hosting Machform) and still provide some sort of link in each record of the form to easily access the appropriate attachment.
Does Machform have any capability to compress attachments uploaded to entries. (As far as I know it does not.) If it does, please explain how to do so. If anyone has added this capability to Machform ourselves, please let us know how you did it.
And for AppNitro: Please consider adding the capability to Machform to be able to automatically compress files upon upload, in particular, the capability to downsize images by reducing the dimensions and resolution to predefined values.
