Here's another request for a little love from the Machform developers for the unsung heroes in the trenches who are supporting the application for a business or institution. I can't claim to be an unsung hero (I'm not at all heroic and I do get acknowledgement for my work), but I do sometimes do feel as if I am in the trenches when I am administering Machform. This is certainly true when I have to assign rights to access new forms to existing users. I have repeatedly asked for better user management in Machform for this reason, but I can understand it if the Machform developers have decided that adding user and forms groups to Machform isn't their top priority; it would no doubt take a lot of man hours.
But there is something they can do that should take very little time and would help a lot. Right now, the problem is that when you assign access to a form to a user who doesn't already have access to it, you have to scroll through a list of every single form in your Machform installation. We have hundreds of forms! You can use the search capability of your browser to scroll to the form you need, but you have to know the exact name of the form (or at least part of it) for this to work and you have to search for each form name one after another.
If the Machform developers would just make the already existing "smart folders" feature available in the user management screen, when you are granting rights to forms to a user, this would make things much less painful. The ability to filter down the list of forms by users who already have access to them would save a tremendous amount of time. I frequently get requests like this: User X has created new forms A, B, and C, and wants users L, M, N, O, and P to have access to them. If I could limit the forms I have to choose from to only those forms that X has access to, it would save me a lot of blood, sweat, and tears.
